DP&L Receives Energy Star Award, Helps Save Customers Money and Energy
Dayton, March 19, 2010 - The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L) will receive an Energy Star Special Recognition Award on March 18 for its lighting discounts for residential customers.
In 2009, DP&L discounted or provided rebates on home and business improvements that use less energy, save money and help protect the environment. DP&L’s energy efficiency programs helped customers save approximately 115,000 megawatt hours, which could run 9,500 average homes for a year.
Lighting Discounts - Over 1.5 million compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) sold in 2009
Changing light bulbs might seem trivial, but customers who take advantage of DP&L’s discounts on select Energy Star CFLs can on average see a total savings of $1,252. See the math.

Appliance Recycling - Over 1,750 recycled in 2009
Get paid to get rid of an old refrigerator or freezer with DP&L’s appliance recycling program. DP&L will pick up your old appliance for free, dispose of it in an environmentally-responsible manner and send you a check for $25. Plus, customers who get rid of a second refrigerator or freezer could realize ongoing energy savings up to $150 per year.

Heating and Cooling Rebates – Upgraded over 1,550 home systems in 2009
DP&L residential customers can receive heating and cooling rebates that range from $200 to $600 on energy-efficient systems and then save up to $150 per year on their bills.
HVAC rebates couldn’t be simpler for DP&L customers. You purchase a qualifying unit from a participating contractor and instantly receive the rebate in the form of a credit shown on the contractor’s invoice. You don’t have to fill out any paperwork. Business Rebates - Over $1.2 million for efficiency upgrades
DP&L’s Business Rebates are designed to help customers with a variety of rebates on more than 100 different energy-efficient products to meet all types of business needs. DP&L has paid over $1.2 million to business customers for completed projects in 2009 and is accepting applications for 2010.
