NiSource Vice Chairman Stephen P. Adik to Retire at Year's End
MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Nov. 24, 2003 - NiSource Inc. (NYSE:NI) Vice Chairman Stephen P. Adik announced this morning that he will retire Dec. 31, 2003.
"Although we respect Steve's decision to retire," said Gary L. Neale, chairman, president and chief executive officer of NiSource, "we will miss his integrity, dedication, leadership, strategic insight and knowledge of the business. In the past 16 years, as a senior member of the management team at NiSource, Steve has played a key role in the growth and diversification of NiSource into a major regional gas and electric company.
"We are pleased that Steve has agreed to remain a member of the NiSource Board of Directors, where we will continue to have the benefit of his almost 40 years of energy industry experience," Neale said.
Adik, 60, joined NiSource predecessor Northern Indiana Public Service Company in 1987 as vice president and general manager of the Corporate Support Group. Prior to becoming vice chairman, he was senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. Before joining Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Adik had 23 years experience in the railroad and pipeline industries, where he held a number of executive positions in operations and finance.
