Northeast Utilities Names New President of NSTAR Electric
Hartford, CT and Boston, MA, January 15, 2013 - Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Hallstrom as President of NSTAR Electric. Hallstrom is currently the Vice President of Field Operations at NSTAR Electric and oversees the planning, operations and control of the electric distribution system. He also served as “Incident Commander” for the company during storm and other emergency events. In his new role, Hallstrom will be responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of NSTAR’s infrastructure, as well as the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to its 1.1 million customers.

Hallstrom is a 32-year veteran of the utility industry, with extensive experience leading distribution, dispatch, and construction. In his most recent work, Hallstrom helped establish the direction for NSTAR’s infrastructure investment strategy and operating philosophy, with a focus on teamwork and safe operating procedures, to exceed customer expectations. He has also played a crucial role in NSTAR’s emergency response planning and restoration, particularly during Superstorm Sandy, which helped Northeast Utilities earn national industry recognition.
Hallstrom holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Merrimack College. He will report directly to Werner Schweiger, NSTAR Electric’s current President, who will assume a new role as President of Electric Distribution for Northeast Utilities. In this position, Schweiger will help implement standardization and best practices across the Northeast Utilities electric distribution organization.
