Ameren Named Among Best Utilities in Nation for Diversity
DiversityInc recognizes company's hiring, sourcing, and leadership practices
St. Louis, MO, April 26, 2013 - For the fourth year in a row, Ameren Corporation was selected by DiversityInc as a Top 7 Regional Utility for Diversity for 2013. The designation recognizes Ameren's commitment to hiring diverse candidates, contracting with diverse suppliers, and leadership's commitment to promoting a workplace of inclusion. Ameren ranks fourth on the "Regional Utilities" Specialty List this year.
"Under CEO Tom Voss and Chief Diversity Officer Sharon Harvey Davis, this utility has become a model of an inclusive workplace," said Luke Visconti, CEO of DiversityInc. DiversityInc lauded Ameren's commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace in several areas:
- CEO commitment to diversity. Voss has been recognized by DiversityInc for proactively building an inclusive environment where employees are encouraged to share their ideas openly.
- Demographic representation. Diversity and Human Resources have teamed to develop and execute a plan to serve as a roadmap to achieve the company's diverse hiring objectives.
- Supplier Diversity. Ameren's total non-fuel spend with diverse suppliers in 2012 was $127 million.
DiversityInc also acknowledged Ameren's diversity training and mentoring programs, its six employee resource groups and a Diversity Council ranked among the top 25 in the nation.
