This highly visible position will analyze acquisition opportunities and be exposed to strategic planning and corporate development activities under the direction of the VP of Strategic Development.   It is a multi-disciplinary role requiring keen analytical thinking, strong strategic and business acumen, attention to detail and an aptitude for financial concepts.  The ideal candidate must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and initiative, the ability to deliver quality and timely work, as well as proficiency with spreadsheets, presentations and market research.


  • Preparing financial analysis on potential acquisitions/divestitures, capital investment and strategy decisions
    • Financial Modeling
    • Market and Competitor Analysis (Market Attractiveness and Competitive Position)
    • Existing business performance
  • Analyzing market trends and preparing quarterly market updates for each of our businesses
    • Oil & Gas – Midstream, Upstream and Downstream
    • Utility – Transmission and Distribution Construction
    • Canada – Oil Sands, Downstream, UTD
    • Professional Services – Engineering, Pipeline Integrity, Field Services
    • New Business Opportunities – New Technologies, Product or Market Expansions
  • Supporting the development of strategy presentations
  • Due Diligence support for acquisitions and divestitures
  • Capability of analyzing numerous internal and external data sources to generate clear and concise market trends that are likely to impact WG businesses 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in financial analysis within the energy industry, M&A, consulting, investment banking, or a related field
  • Strong and relevant academic credentials; MBA preferred

Required Attributes:

  • Capable of generating meaningful analysis and reports with incomplete data
    • Strong analytical, research, accounting and financial modeling skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment
    • Strong work ethic with the ability to learn new concepts quickly
    • High proficiency in Excel; Proficiency in data mining using tools like Cetovia or Insight is a plus
    • Supports and adheres to the Company’s Values and Cultural Beliefs
    • Occasional travel required (estimated not to exceed 25% in calendar year)
