 Major Responsibilities:


·         Provide strategic direction and guidance to the company relative to Environment, Health and  Safety (EHS) policies, standards and programs

·         Develop corporate EHS reporting metrics and report performance across the Company and to the Safety, Environment and Sustainability Committee of the Board of Directors

·         Oversee the operation and refinement of the EHS Management System(s) utilized across ENMAX with a focus on continual improvement

·         Support business unit compliance with all applicable EHS regulations

·         Evaluate the workplace environment and develop EHS policies and standards that identify corporate commitments and employee responsibilities

·         Partner with key stakeholders to ensure strategy, policies and programs are executed across the organization and influence the design of EHS operational procedures

·         Lead internal Class 3 Environment and Safety investigations

·         Ensure EHS Management System auditing is undertaken

·         Ensure development and implementation of Corporate EHS training

·         Lead the Corporate EHS team with a focus on talent development

·         Assume operational planning and budgeting responsibilities relative to Corporate EHS

·         Represent ENMAX to auditors and industry associations where appropriate

·         Perform additional responsibilities as requested


 Education Required:


·         Post Secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety and Health, EH&S Management or a related field


Qualifications & Experience:


·         10-15 years experience within the Environment, Health and Safety field; experience with electrical safety preferred

·         In depth knowledge of Canadian and Provincial Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and legislative acts

·         Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills with ability to work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationships exist

·         Well connected with the professional community to draw upon specialized experts and establish professional ties

·         Excellent relationship building skills, ability to gain the trust of key internal contacts to ensure effective and timely program objectives are met

·         Proven ability to successfully articulate rationale and influence decision-making

·         Fosters an environment that requires team members and business unites to take responsibility and accountability

·         Ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused manner
