EPCOR Technologies is looking for a Electrical Distribution Engineer to join their dynamic and growing team. The Electrical Distribution Engineer is accountable for electrical distribution design, analysis and integration related engineering and project delivery functions for EPCOR Technologies.


Detailed Description


The Engineer, Electrical Distribution position is accountable for:

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing Electrical Distribution Engineering processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and to ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Reviewing and stamping engineering drawings and documents produced by other Technologists and Engineers within the department.
  • Reviewing, developing and implementing functional, design and operational specifications and standards for electrical distribution systems infrastructure and related devices.
  • Executing project management activities, such as project team co-ordination and planning, schedule monitoring and budget compliance and assisting in invoice preparation.
  • Preparing design and construction packages for distribution designs using customer required software including Electric Office and IVARA.
  • Building client relationships and promoting EPCOR Technologies' capabilities to current and potential clients while helping to identify and acquire new projects.
  • Participating actively in industry related associations and professional associations.
  • Driving innovation and advancement within the areas of work.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:



  • Professional Engineer or eligible for P.Eng application with APEGA.


  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in electrical distribution engineering and design (candidates who do not meet work experience requirements may still be considered for a developmental opportunity).


  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering.


  • Knowledge of best engineering practices for planning, analysis, design, construction and commissioning of Electrical Distribution systems.


  • Demonstrated experience in project management and project delivery within project models such as design, design-build and design-build-maintain.


  • Proven understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals.


  • Knowledge and practical experience in the following:

    • Design and drafting standards for Electrical Distribution systems


    • The Canadian Electrical Code


    • The Alberta Electrical Utility Code


    • 13kV and 25kV electrical distribution systems



  • Working knowledge and direct experience with GE Small World Electric Office, Microstation V8i and IVARA will be considered an asset.


  • The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
