Project Engineer

(Full-Time Temporary)
(This position is to last no later than April 1, 2015)


Working under the direction of a Senior Engineer, this position is primarily responsible for design, preparation of contract documents and the construction of a variety of major water and wastewater capital projects and upgrade works. During the work term the focus will be on the design of large diameter sewer mains.

The successful candidate will work with other engineering staff members, consultants and members of the public, liaise and coordinate with various departmental staff in all project phases including pre-design, site/route selection, detailed design and construction project management; involved with multiple projects from pre-design through to commissioning and start-up.



Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience in the water and wastewater environment.

Membership or eligibility for immediate membership as a registered Professional Engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is required.

Sound understanding of hydraulic principles and a history of sewer design and construction experience.

Strong written and oral communication skills including demonstrated letter and report writing skills.  Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal tactfully and sensitively to a variety of situations, including contact with the public, member municipalities, government agencies and contractors.

Proven contract administration and project management skills with attention to detail.

Computer competency (MS Project, Word and Excel preferred) with the ability to apply computer applications to engineering projects.

*An EIT with relevant experience may be considered at an Assistant Project Engineer level
