Our Design Center team is seeking an experienced Designer to prepare work order distribution design packages which include construction drawings, MAXIMO estimates, equipment details, tag lists and other associated documents required for non-revenue distribution projects.
Types of projects include new revenue work associated with subdivisions and master planned communities. Successful candidate will be required to manage all design phases of the project from inception to final plans, manage multiple project designs, interact with Planning/Operations for desired circuit configurations and perform necessary load calculations.
Analysis will be required to determine the most cost effective design, the usability of existing equipment based upon load analysis, desired circuit configurations, voltage drop calculations and the adherence to required Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Construction Standards/Specifications.
- Provide accurate, concise, thorough and easily understood engineering documents using manual or CADD techniques and related software.
- Gather, organize and develop engineering data for the development of design drawings.
- Ensure that all project commitments are achieved with a cost-effective design.
- Prepare work authorizations (WA) and job estimates. Determine customer charges required in advance of construction in accordance with APS' extension policy.
Our successful candidate will have a High School Diploma/GED; completed two years college or technical school coursework in CADD or a technical discipline (or equivalent) plus four (4) years design experience in T&D for a level III and six (6) years for a Sr. Must also possess effective interpersonal communication and PC skills in a Windows environment as well as a valid driver's license.
Working knowledge in the following areas preferred: T&D Construction Standards, APS Operations practices, APS Construction materials/equipment specifications, preparation of T&D electric facility designs and cost estimates, application of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD 2004 or higher), MAXIMO and APS Safety Manual.
