Role Summary/Purpose

Lentronics is looking for a highly motivated and innovative Senior Design Engineer to join our design team working on the latest technologies for industrial grade communication equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop Firmware for Fiber Optic telecom equipment for critical applications
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, procedures, and program requirements
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures


  • BASc, MEng or MASc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years embedded software development experience in a complex product environment
  • Demonstrated expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals
  • A team player with a solid work ethic and a reputation for delivering cutting-edge, world class solutions with high quality and outstanding performance
  • Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills required, assembly language preferred
  • Highly proficient at partitioning systems and defining interfaces between components
  • Expertise in embedded software development for Linux and VxWorks
  • Experience with PowerPC and ARM architecture
  • Experience with device drivers, diagnostics, and understanding of hardware devices
  • System level debugging under complex, real time communication and application operations
  • Experience tuning real time sensitive code to get maximum system performance
  • Solid understanding of the data networking industry including LAN/WAN and network layer protocols
  • Experience with OSS/NMS solutions
  • Must be a driven individual, self-starter, capable of performing and delivering without extensive management oversight
