The Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) Board of Trustees approved a quarterly dividend of $0.3925 per share, payable on March 31, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 3, 2014.
The March 2014 dividend represents a 6.8 percent increase over NU's previous quarterly dividend level.
'This increase underscores our confidence in our regulated business model, which allows us to grow our earnings and dividends at a rate that is in the upper tier of the nation's regulated utilities, while at the same time we invest billions of dollars to strengthen the region's electric and natural gas delivery systems,' said Thomas J. May, NU chairman, president and chief executive officer.
