Gulf Electricity Brings Savings to New York Consumers in Westchester County and NYC's Five Boroughs
Gulf Oil, the nation's fastest growing branded marketer of energy products, announced that its Gulf Electricity services, which are already available to five of the six New England states, are now available to New York residents and small commercial customers in the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester County. The expansion of Gulf Electricity into the Empire State is part of the company's ongoing strategy to diversify its energy offerings and provide the marketplace with cost-effective, efficient energy options.
Gulf Electricity is now providing New York residential and small business customers currently serviced by Con Edison the opportunity to enjoy ongoing savings on the energy portion of their power bills by switching to Gulf. Further, Gulf's fixed pricing structure, rather than Con Edison's variable rate that changes daily and spikes seasonally, gives customers the security of predicable electricity bills.
For example, Gulf's annual fixed rate of 8.49 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for Westchester County residents was over 56 percent lower in January than Con Edison's average daily rate of 19.54 cents/kWh. For New York City residents across the five boroughs, Gulf's rate of 10.49 cents/kWh was over 53 percent lower than Con Edison's average rate of 22.54 cents/kWh. The savings were even greater for residents who used higher-cost third party providers.
'New York residents already know and trust Gulf's brand name from our 110 year history. When customers sign up to receive Gulf Electricity, they know they are signing on with a century old, reliable company committed to providing excellent customer service and competitive rates,' said Gulf Oil's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Rick Dery. 'We are very excited to be entering the New York market, and look forward to providing savings to thousands of people throughout the Empire State.'
Switching to Gulf Electricity is fast and easy. Customers will continue to receive their bills from their current utility, which will also continue to handle power delivery and repair services. The process takes less than five minutes and can be done by visiting www.gulfelectricity.com or by calling Gulf Electricity toll-free at 855-GULF-ELE (855-485-3353).

Additional Energy Savings with Gulf
Every residential customer who makes the switch to Gulf Electricity will also receive a $10 Power Points Card to receive free gas at any Gulf Station. In addition, $25 will be automatically added to their cards for every 5,000 kilowatt hours of electricity used. This means that the average Gulf Electricity customer will receive $60 in additional gasoline savings each year. More details on the Gulf Electricity rewards program can be found here.
Residential customers who sign up with Gulf Electricity before March 31, 2014 will also be automatically entered to win free electricity for an entire year. Additionally, in February, 15 lucky Gulf Electricity customers will receive a pair of New England Ski Mountain Lift Tickets.
'Gulf's move into the electricity marketplace is a natural complement to our existing businesses. Our expertise in sourcing and distributing energy efficiently enables us to give consumers the opportunity to receive savings from a respected and trusted supplier,' said Gulf Oil President Ron Sabia.
In the coming months Gulf Electricity plans to announce continued expansion across New York, including areas served by Orange & Rockland, NYSEG, Rochester Gas & Electric and National Grid.
