Digga North America and Alliant Energy partner on energy efficiency projects

March 11, 2014

Digga North America's new Dyersville facility is using energy efficiency to gain a competitive advantage in the advanced manufacturing industry.

The company recently completed several energy efficiency projects, including installation of energy efficient compressed air systems, air conditioners and lighting in the new manufacturing facility located in the Dyersville Industrial Park. The company expects the new energy efficiency equipment to reduce energy usage and increase cost savings.

'We appreciate the partnership with Alliant Energy to make our facility energy efficient from day one,' Laura Kirsch, Digga North America Office Manager. 'We completed a number of projects that will enable our facility to reduce energy usage and costs, which benefits our customers. The investment in energy efficiency technology can help our company gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.'

The projects were completed under Alliant Energy's Custom Rebate energy program. Digga North America expects to achieve annual energy savings of more than 150,000 kilowatt-hours per year.

The energy savings will result in avoiding more than 106 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This is equivalent to removing approximately 22 passenger vehicles from Iowa roadways or the amount of carbon dioxide sequestered by nearly 80 acres of forest in the United States.

In addition to the anticipated energy savings, the company received a $24,876 rebate for the projects.

'Whether building a new facility or upgrading an existing facility, there are always energy efficiency opportunities to be found,' said Craig Clefisch, Alliant Energy key account manager. 'We are proud to partner with Digga North America on these projects. We will continue to look for ways to further increase the energy efficiency of their facility as their business grows.'

Alliant Energy offers the Iowa Custom Rebate program to businesses seeking to implement new or innovative ways to reduce energy demand. The company also offers a number of Prescriptive Rebate programs for companies looking to increase the energy efficiency of their facilities. These programs are available to Alliant Energy retail electric and gas customers located in its Iowa and Minnesota service area.
