AREVA and Novinium to Provide Cable Rejuvenation Services to the Nuclear Industry
AREVA Inc. has signed an exclusive agreement with Novinium® to offer state-of-the-art, patented cable rejuvenation technology to the nuclear industry. This partnership with Novinium, a global leader in its field, is a first-of-a-kind partnership in the industry and will provide nuclear power plants with a safe, innovative and cost-effective solution to extend the life of underground cable infrastructure.
As part of its 'Forward Alliance' program for the optimization of nuclear power plant safety and long-term operations, AREVA will offer Novinium's Ultrinium' fluid using its patented sustained pressure rejuvenation (SPR) injection method for nuclear power plant applications. Novinium's cable rejuvenation technology restores the full dielectric strength of a cable to a like-new condition and extends the life and reliability of these cables for 40 more years at a fraction of the cost and time it takes for traditional cable replacement.
'At AREVA, we take every opportunity to better serve our utility customers,' said Tom Franch, senior vice president of Reactors and Services at AREVA Inc. 'With Novinium as a partner, our customers will have access to a technology that can improve the safety, performance and long-term reliability of their cable infrastructure, an important consideration when renewing licenses at nuclear power plants.'
'Nuclear plant operators will now have streamlined access to the same proven methods which hundreds of Novinium's customers have come to rely on for increasing cable reliability,' said Glen Bertini, Novinium's president and chief executive officer.
Novinium's technology solutions address circuit owners' infrastructure problems at a fraction of the cost of existing methods, save energy, save natural resources, and reduce greenhouse gases by eliminating the need for additional production of copper and polymers for new cables. Founded in 2003 by the experts who invented cable rejuvenation at Dow Corning in the 1980s, Novinium's patented injection process rejuvenates and extends the reliable life of cable up to 40 years. Headquartered in suburban Seattle, the privately held company is the recognized technology leader in cable rejuvenation and was honored as one of Seattle's 2013 Best Places to Work.
