California Public Utilities Commission Comments on Proposed San Onofre Settlement
The California Public Utilities Commission's (CPUC) President Michael R. Peevey and Commissioner Mike Florio made the following statements in response to the announcement by the CPUC's Office of Ratepayer Advocates, The Utility Reform Network (TURN), Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas & Electric that they have reached a proposed settlement regarding the failed steam generator tubes at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
Said President Peevey, 'I am pleased that the parties have come to a proposed settlement that they believe is in the interest of ratepayers. The proposed settlement will come before the CPUC for consideration after a public hearing to evaluate it closely.'
Said Commissioner Florio, 'After an 18 month proceeding, it is encouraging that the parties have come to a proposed resolution. If approved, it would save us another two years of litigation and offer ratepayers a more expeditious relief.'
