Reliant Gives Back to Houston Families Through March of Dimes Campaign
Supports by Walking, Internal Fundraising and Special Electricity Plan

March 31, 2014

Dream big, little ones. Reliant and NRG employees are supporting babies and their families with a series of efforts benefiting the March of Dimes Houston Division. The fundraising kicks off ahead of the 2014 March for Babies on April 27 at the University of Houston.

The March of Dimes helps moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and researches the problems that threaten babies' lives. Reliant is the presenting sponsor for Houston's walk - the largest in the country - and NRG Texas Retail and Reliant President Elizabeth Killinger is the event chairwoman. In addition, more than 40 Reliant and NRG employee teams are planning to participate in the walk this year.

'The issue of premature birth is one that not only hits close to home for me but also for a great number of families in and around Houston,' said Elizabeth Killinger, president of NRG Texas Retail and Reliant. 'Whether through fundraising or participation in this year's March for Babies, our contributions to the March of Dimes reflect passion and commitment to giving back in ways that matter to our communities.'

The Crawford family, one of Reliant and NRG's ambassador families on the issue of premature birth, will represent Reliant and NRG at the walk, along with more than 600 employees and their family members who have committed to log miles. This year's support of March of Dimes represents a long-standing commitment to supporting the March of Dimes Houston Division, as Reliant and NRG employees have donated more than $1.1 million to the March of Dimes since 2002.

For the second year, Reliant also has created an electricity plan to generate additional funds. When new residential customers switch to the Reliant BabyPower 12 plan, Reliant will make a $100 donation to the March of Dimes. The plan comes with a low price for one year, and a $100 bill credit during the first year of service. Only new residential Reliant customers with a Texas service address are eligible to participate in the plan. The bill credit will appear on the customer's bill within one to two billing cycles and is limited to one per household.
