GridPoint, an innovator in comprehensive, data-driven energy management systems (EMS) that enable customers to optimize energy savings, facility efficiency and sustainability efforts, announced that Senior Vice President of Marketing, Mark Straton, will now also spearhead GridPoint's sales force as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. His senior leadership experience in sales and marketing at large organizations such as XEROX, ROLM, IBM and Siemens, and start-ups such as SocialExtract, supports GridPoint's strategic goal of developing the organization for growth and scale.
As Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, Mr. Straton led Siemens Communications global marketing divisions in enterprise networks, and in the United States led carrier networks, mobile networks and mobile phones for divisions of up to $5 billion from 2000 to 2012. Mr. Straton is most recognized for his marketing and sales expertise in managing technology disruptions successfully. While at Siemens, he led the global market brand introductions for developing portfolios including Voice-over-IP (HiPath), Unified Communications (OpenScape), Communications Convergence (LifeWorks) and communication cloud services (OpenScape Cloud Services) resulting in sales of over 50 million B2B licenses to date.
As a sales professional, Mr. Straton successfully developed marketing strategies, indirect sales channels, business development and strategic re-alignment for markets undergoing evolution. At Siemens, he effectively led the roll out of the company's first global channel marketing program, GoForward!, which transformed Siemens Enterprise Communications from a direct model to a technology hybrid channel sales model.

Mr. Straton's work has been recognized throughout his career. He was named a Frost & Sullivan Marketing World Advisor in 2012 and 2014, listed in Internet Telephony magazine's Top 100 Voices of IP Communications and received the Wall Street Journal Innovation Europe Technology Award. He also served on the Board of Information Technology Solutions Marketing Association's (ITSMA) Solution Marketing Council for several years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan.
