Mississippi Public Service Commission Presents $6,000 in Energy Efficiency Rebates to Local Schools

February 27, 2017

Today (2/24) Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley travelled to West Tallahatchie School District and Tunica County School District to present energy efficiency rebate checks to each superintendent totaling a $6,000 combined.

The West Tallahatchie School District replaced two convection ovens at their West Friendship Road Facility and two convection ovens at their High School Road facility, with a resulting rebate of $2,000 from CenterPoint Energy's energy efficiency program. The Tunica County School District replaced two combi ovens at Tunica Elementary School and two combi ovens at Rosa Fort High School. They also replaced two fryers that were inefficient. Tunica County Schools were presented with a check for $4,000 from Atmos Energy.

"These are real savings for tax payers that these schools can use to better serve their students. I strongly urge each utility to make these programs known, whether they be on the commercial or residential level. Each customer deserves to save every penny they can," Commissioner Presley said.
