Sierra Systems Renewed as IT Strategic Resource Supplier to Bruce Power

March 16, 2017

Bruce Power has awarded Sierra Systems Group Inc. (Sierra Systems) a multi-year contract to continue to supply project office, architecture, infrastructure, operations, application development, and solution implementation services.

Bruce Power is gearing up for a multi-year, $13 billion investment program to extend the life of Units 3-8, to provide low-cost, carbon-free and reliable power to the province of Ontario for decades. This initiative will involve numerous stakeholders and separate projects to ensure its success over the next few years.

Since 2012, Sierra Systems and its strategic partner Compugen Inc., have worked closely with Bruce Power to deliver quality resources to streamline the procurement of IT consultants. To help Bruce Power with their ongoing efforts to improve efficiencies and productivity in their business, Sierra Systems will continue to provide IT consulting services in several areas, including application and program management, business analysis, and solution architecture among other IT functions.

"We are extremely pleased with our ongoing relationship with Bruce Power," said Pat Kaiser, Chief Operating Officer, Sierra Systems. "This renewal demonstrates the confidence Bruce Power has in our ability to provide highly skilled resources with broad technical expertise to help drive efficiencies and reduce administrative processes. "

"We are excited about this strategic partnership with Sierra Systems as part of Bruce Power's Life Extension Program which will ensure Bruce Power continues to provide low-cost electricity for Ontario families and business for years to come," said Sarah Shortreed, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Finance and Commercial Services. "The operation of the Bruce site through 2064 will create and sustain 22,000 direct and indirect jobs annually, while creating $4 billion in annual Ontario economic benefit through the direct and indirect spending on operational equipment, supplies, materials and labour income."
