ENGIE wins nearly 78 MW of photovoltaic projects in France
ENGIE, through its subsidiaries ENGIE Green, La Compagnie du Vent, CNR and Solairedirect, ENGIE has won bidding organized by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) for 10 photovoltaic projects representing 78 MW of installed capacity. With these additional projects, ENGIE is consolidating its leading position in photovoltaics in France with, at the end of 2016, an installed or construction capacity of 522 MW.
ENGIE, and all of its subsidiaries, thus further contributes to the development of renewable energies and a dedicated industrial sector which creates activities and jobs in France. The selected projects have all been developed in consultation with local stakeholders and will make a priority use of local providers.
These successes of ENGIE in a particularly competitive national bidding, with an average price for large solar photovoltaic power plants of 62.5 per MWh, reflect the quality of its submissions and its competitiveness in solar photovoltaic technology and, more broadly, in renewable energy.
Already leader in the solar, ENGIE is also the onshore wind power leader in France, with an installed capacity of 1, 730 MW, and second in hydraulic power with 3,824 MW of installed capacity at 31 December 2016. As France prepares to triple its solar capacity by 2023, ENGIE wants to accelerate and improve its market share with a target of reaching 2.2 GW by 2021.
ENGIE develops its businesses (power, natural gas, energy services) around a model based on responsible growth to take on the major challenges of energy's transition to a low-carbon economy: access to sustainable energy, climate-change mitigation and adaptation and the rational use of resources. The Group provides individuals, cities and businesses with highly efficient and innovative solutions largely based on its expertise in four key sectors: renewable energy, energy efficiency, liquefied natural gas and digital technology. ENGIE employs 153,090 people worldwide and achieved revenues of 66.6 billion in 2016. The Group is listed on the Paris and Brussels stock exchanges (ENGI) and is represented in the main international indices: CAC 40, BEL 20, DJ Euro Stoxx 50, Euronext 100, FTSE Eurotop 100, MSCI Europe, DJSI World, DJSI Europe and Euronext Vigeo (World 120, Eurozone 120, Europe 120 and France 20).
