MISO announced that energy leader Kent Fonvielle has been named executive director of External Affairs for MISO's South Region. Fonvielle will serve as MISO's primary liaison with members, stakeholders and customers in the MISO South region.

"MISO is pleased to welcome an industry veteran with many years of external affairs and strategic planning experience to our South Region team in Little Rock," said MISO South Region Vice President Todd P. Hillman. "We look forward to having Kent's leadership and expertise on our team as we work to facilitate collaboration among our valued members and stakeholders across the MISO South footprint."

Before joining MISO, Fonvielle held successive roles of increasing responsibility at Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy Corp., where he gained experience in all facets of the utility industry. He began his career as an engineer at Duke's Oconee Nuclear Station.

Throughout his career, Fonvielle served in both external affairs and strategic planning roles, with a portfolio ranging from large industrial accounts and wholesale energy contracts to fuel planning and long-term origination, renewable energy and fleet optimization. Most recently, Fonvielle led a team responsible for regulatory affairs and policy in both North Carolina and South Carolina, focused on strategy development for regulatory programs, filings and rate recovery activities.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to join MISO and to be part of the good work the South Region team is achieving every day," Fonvielle noted. "It is a privilege to continue my career with an organization dedicated to helping ensure reliable energy and increased value for the people of the South region."

Fonvielle received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He will be based at MISO's South Region headquarters in Little Rock and will begin April 3.
