Provide engineering services for the design and construction of substation project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Provide technical project management for substation projects including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. Conduct or assist with engineering studies and investigations, and prepare or assist with oral and written reports. Provide substation engineering assistance to other departments. Provide technical input to assist in project planning. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within substation projects. This position can be an engineer I, engineer II or senior engineer depending on successful candidate qualifications.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
- Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
- Provide technical project management for phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
- Conduct or assist with engineering studies and investigations. Prepare or assist in preparing oral and written reports.
- Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- For the engineer II position, one to three years related experience, in addition to a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, is required.
- For the senior engineer position, candidates must possess a electrical engineering degree plus five years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer and an advanced technical degree or registration as a licensed professional engineer in a state served by MidAmerican Energy Company, or eight years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer.
