Description
The position will be responsible for implementation and corporate support of B2W (Bid 2 Win, estimating software and database creation and maintenance) and will also be accountable for working with multiple lines of business providing estimating services: software training, support, oversight, and feedback.
Major Job Elements:
- Implementation & maintenance of the region B2W database: creating and modifying work breakdown structures, tasks, crews, and resources.
- Upkeep of the database, participating in corporate & regional cost challenges in all lines of businesses, review of previous estimates for historical number references. Project dollar values will range from $100,000 to $100,000,000+.
- Travel will be required - up to 25%. Travel will be predominately to West region offices, with occasional travel to other H&M offices outside the West region.
- Provide hands-on training to H&M estimators in the use of B2W software within the H&M estimating program. Additionally train managers, supervisors and others in B2W on a familiarization basis.
- Participating in cost-challenges of other H&M regional estimates, continued development of all estimating databases, and audits of previous estimates.
- Review of previous estimates, past projects completed, ongoing projects, and programs earned value & unit performance.
- Participate in and develop metrics for estimates as well as actual costs. Construct management reports illustrating the effectiveness of the estimating program, and recommend actions to adjust and improve the program.
- Develop cost estimates as needed to support West Region business operations.
- Work alongside Estimating Staff from various lines of businesses to develop and close bids throughout the West Region.
- Update corporate Continuing Improvement Estimating Team on status of Region implementation, usage and challenges regarding B2W.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Estimating/proposal experience on large projects required
- Minimum of 2 + years of work experience construction required
- 1 + years in transmission line construction desired
- Must be able to mentor/train estimating support staff members
- Must be able to coordinate construction estimates for power projects at a regional level, and major estimates with our PMO Corporate office and/or with other JV partners.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision
- Must take initiative to perform tasks
- Prior construction estimating work experience required
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Construction Management, or experience in the utility construction industry desired
- Microsoft Excel software proficiency desired
- B2W estimating/software experience highly recommendable
