Description
This is a senior leadership position for Henkels & McCoy Inc. The position is responsible for the implementation of the power strategy at the enterprise level by focusing on major pursuits, leveraging our experience and resources increase market share, defining a national level marketing plan in conjunction with Corporate Marketing and Sales, developing strategic partnerships and overseeing coordinating amongst the regional peers the acquisition of capital equipment to meet the needs of the Power LOB. This position will also provide the bench strength to support the regional execution of work.

Direct Reports:  Director Project Development, Director Estimating Project Support, and others     

Primary Outcomes:

  • Support the development and implementation of the Power Market Strategy for the enterprise.
  • Ensure the availability of talent to support the anticipated growth of the Power LOB through the strategic hiring and deployment of key resources.
  • Provide senior leadership to TDS, demonstrating vision, experience and maturity through the management of goals and objectives for the capture of major projects, marketing of services to new customers in diverse geographic areas, maintaining current on emerging T&D trends and market focus as well as the regulatory environment.
  • Lead Power operations in the advancement of all Safety Initiatives including improved methods and equipment analysis through recommendations to regional leadership.
  • Engage in Power business development and sales activities, both individually and in conjunction with regional and corporate personnel to ensure market penetration for H&M power services in identified markets
  • Ensure revenue and profit expectations (per identified plans/budgets) are achieved through regional support activities and enterprise initiatives and pursuits.

Major Job Elements:

  • Ensure Power market research/data (current and projected) are developed for use in defining market opportunities for revenue and profit growth by geography or market sectors.
  • Participate in, and support the development of, strategic partnerships to facilitate the pursuit major EPC Projects.
  • Through attendance and participation in conferences, trade shows, and professional networking, establish relationships with major transmission developers to ascertain the ability to bid and/or participate in the solicitation process for services associated with major transmission line builds.
  • Participate in proposal and contract development, negotiations and alliance meetings as needed
  • Assist in the develop performance and labor strategies to compete in new and existing markets
  • Provide input and direction to planning, scheduling, and forecasting of equipment needs and priorities across the enterprise. Work with corporate Fleet Management personnel in developing and recommending the acquisition strategy for major types of equipment.
  • Work with Power Vice Presidents and Regional Vice Presidents. Place focus on enhancement of core competencies at all levels in the organization.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations, supports Individual development plans, and initiates disciplinary action, if required, for direct reports. 
  • Responsible for the development of others including participation in Henkels & McCoy succession planning process, ensuring all key positions have identified replacement strategies in place

Lead Safety

  • In conjunction with the Henkels & McCoy Inc. Corporate Safety Program, insures Power LOB safety systems are in place, being "actively" managed and producing continuous improvement insuring "No one gets Hurt".
  • Communicate safety goals and plans to Power Management for implementation.
  • Ensure safety is operationalized / integrated in all work, constantly driving to make sure that best practices are identified and shared across all power operations and the assigned region

Lead Business Development / Sales and Market Growth Power LOB

  • Engage in market business development and sales activities, both individually and in conjunction with regional and corporate personnel. Identify potential demand for H&M services and drive to meet the demand.
  • Manage relationships with existing customers within the power LOB area, alliance partners and leverage to acquire potential "new" customers.
  • Responsible for participating in the development and execution of enterprise power strategies with other regional Power Vice President.
  • Responsible to develop and execute specific power strategies that advances Henkels & McCoy's power market position in an assigned region or enterprise wide through a dotted line reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Power regarding such matters.
  • Ensure power market and customer diversification is achieved and is providing the platform to maintain YOY growth rate of 7%.
  • Ensure P&L Expectations are Achieved
  • Adhere to performance goals, operations reviews, project reviews, including formal auditing processes such as project QA plans, pre-plans, project plans and post job reviews.
  • Oversee equipment requirements for the line of business.  Participate in annual equipment budget maintenance programs and disposition of assets.
  • Continuously manage (by inspection or otherwise) financial performance against set budgets / plans for the Power LOB in the region assigned 
  • Lead others in managing fiscal accountability through the normal operational implementation of work or services

Education:

  • BS / MBA degree in a related field is preferred or the equivalent in directly related experience in the power construction industry is required
  • Certifications or additional education in Construction Management, Contracts Management and /or Project Management highly desired
  • Advanced leadership training or certifications

General Experience: 

  • 20 years or more experience in related high voltage power transmission/distribution construction and/or maintenance work
  • A minimum of 15 years in a senior management and/or business development /sales capacity required.
