Mi-Tech Services, Inc. is a growing professional services firm supporting energy and telecommunication projects with a full suite of civil and environmental services. We are continually seeking reputable Environmental Inspectors and Compliance Monitors to help manage the unique environmental challenges associated with linear construction projects. We are actively developing a database of experienced environmental field specialists in order to match qualified individuals with relevant project-based positions that offer opportunities for career development and meet client expectations.  

Job Responsibilities of this position:  

  •  Preparing and conducting environmental training for construction personnel.
  • Conducting field inspections, monitoring and field survey work as directed.
  • Interacting with regulatory agency staff, landowners, contractors, clients and other project members.
  • Reviewing and implementing project documents providing critical judgment on environmental compliance issues.
  • Critically assessing environmental conditions in the field to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction.
  • Conducting environmental sampling (hydrostatic test water, soil, etc.).
  • Installing/verifying flagging of wetland boundaries, cultural and biological resources exclusion zones, refueling zones, etc.
  • Inspecting and documenting compliance with a project's environmental requirements by preparing daily written inspection      reports that provide up-to-date and consistent written and photo documentation of activities observed in the field.
  • Participating in various construction meetings.
  • Overseeing the proper implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Providing support to senior staff as needed.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned or required.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Field experience providing an understanding of linear construction methods utilized during pipeline, power line, compressor/pumping station, gas storage infrastructure, wind farm, and solar facility projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficiency with electronic equipment such as GPS units, digital cameras and tablets.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling methods.
  • BS or BA degree in a natural science field of study or a minimum of 5 years of construction inspection experience.
  • 2+ years of environmental inspection experience working with linear energy infrastructure projects. 
  • The ability to travel extensively and to work 40-70+ hours per week in a physically demanding position on temporary assignments.
  • Valid Driver's License required with acceptable driving record.

  • NPDES Storm Water Permit Compliance
  • FERC - Environmental Compliance Seminar
  • SGA - Environmental Compliance during Pipeline Construction
