Description
As the Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions to customers in response to request for proposals related to Bombardier's Rail Control Solutions (signaling) Division. You will develop, coordinate, direct and perform engineering duties related to the preliminary design and development of complex engineering systems. You will also play an interactive role between the both the business and customers with the goal of providing a quality product.

- Identify competitive system solutions in response to customer requests for proposals
- Represent Engineering on all technical matters during the bid phase of the project life cycle;
- Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support/information;
- Lead system engineering efforts for design and development and support system integration on projects;
- Collect and review input from cross-functional engineering groups;
- Provide technical input into product road mapping;
- Attend cross-functional project meetings to ensure timeliness and project quality;
- Evaluate results of performance simulations supplied by System Engineering and prepare reports and recommendations based on evaluations;
- Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodologies are inadequate or where proposed solutions are not cost competitive;
- Initiate, direct and schedule work load, identifying problems, monitoring progress and performing broad engineering responsibility to determine best solution;
- Develop preliminary system configurations;
- Develop and present technical presentations in response to client technology related questions/inquiries;
- Prepare proposal text for assigned bids in accordance with the annotated table of contents and Bid Management direction;
- Assist prospective clients in technical specification development based on RCS products and industry standards.
Requirements
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Software Engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree will be considered an asset;
- You possess a minimum of five (5) years of Systems Engineering experience;
- You demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions and product selections to ensure a workable system solution;
- You possess experience working within a project-driven business in a technical expert role;
- You demonstrate a background in rail technology, signaling, or experience working within complex engineering environments within the aerospace, automotive, or energy industries;
- You can operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;
- You possess a background in understanding and implementing customer requirements;
- You demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;
- You possess the ability to adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;
- You possess superior verbal and written English communications skills.
