Description
The Procurement Specialist II provides materials management services for Duke Energy's nuclear power plants. Their focus is to ensure material availability while maintaining optimum inventory levels through analysis of usage history, supplier lead times and validation of plant allocations. The Procurement Specialist I interacts with Plant Engineers, Work Planners, Buyers, Suppliers, Manufacturers and Site supply Chain personnel. This includes monitoring material demands, material catalog maintenance and required stocking levels. 

Ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to support daily activities as well as a variety of projects, and initiatives. The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and supply chain aptitude. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively throughout our supply chain department, plant personnel and suppliers. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manages inventory levels for all Duke Energy Nuclear Plants. Insures materials are available to satisfy plant material & equipment requirements and deliver a specified level of service while maintaining optimum inventory levels
  • Ensures effective communication with Plant Engineers, Work Planners, Buyers, Suppliers, Manufacturers and Site Supply Chain support. The Procurement Specialist I is the single-point-of-contact for materials needed for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency material needs
  • Manages materials by providing daily evaluation of material replenishment requirements and plant allocations to maintain inventory optimization levels
  • Utilizes information gained through reports, work planner data and communications with customers and suppliers to ensure that all materials are available to support plant schedules. Notifies work planners of delays in material availability so that adjustments may be made to the work schedule. This requires knowledge of the material requisitions systems (CAS and Passport), work management systems, and materials management procedures for Duke Energy's Nuclear Supply Chain
  • Manages planning parameters (ROP, EOQ, Lead Times for assigned material categories at all nuclear plants. This assures optimum inventory levels and efficient forecast scheduling for inventory as well as special order materials. This is accomplished through materials management expertise and knowledge
  • Responsible for new material catalog request to include identification of storage requirements, shelf life determinations and reorder points if applicable.
  • Determines most economical and efficient means of procuring materials and equipment for internal customers through transfer of material between plants, repair by internal shops, direct purchase, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities through the forecasting process to support cost avoidance, just-in-time deliveries, and overall inventory management while maintaining optimal inventory levels to support the plants. 
     

Job specific skills or duties:

  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Passport/ABB Supply Chain Systems)

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics or 4 years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Inventory Management, (i.e., audits,
  • procurement practice, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use statistical and analytical tools
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of business contract law
