Description
Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a Structural Engineering Design Authority to be based in our Aiken, SC location.
Responsibilities:
- Provide structural engineering evaluations of new and existing designs and field construction to determine the adequacy of the design with respect to safety basis and applicable building code requirements
- Provide civil/structural design input to new projects and plant modifications.
- Perform structural integrity and life cycle viability assessments of existing safety systems and structures
- Assess and resolve emergent operational issues including but not limited to soil excavation, crane placement, and seismic two over one evaluation.
- Review and approve relevant procedures
- Perform self-assessments of existing programs and procedures related to Structural Engineering roles and responsibilities
- Review and approve procurement specifications
- Review of supplier submittals and documents
- Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and apply new or special materials or processes to problem solving and program planning where difficult coordination or oversight requirements exist and only general objectives are stated.
- Perform field walk downs to evaluate new construction, existing systems and field problems
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 2 years of experience, or
- Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or
- PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering

Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of:
- Structural Analysis Software
- National Codes and Standards such as IBC,AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA and OSHA
- Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing
- Able to apply resourceful thinking to unique or complex problems
- Works well in an environment of multiple demands and shifting directions and priorities
