RELAY COMMISSIONING ENGINEER This position will work directly for Shermco, but act as the end user's quality control engineer.
Job Responsibilities
- Overseeing the changeout of HV breakers, protective relays, transformers, ground grid, and other electrical equipment associated with substations.
- Responsible for reviewing the work performed by a NETA testing company to ensure upgrades are carried out per the design.
- Review the design for accuracy.
Required Experience and Education:
- Experience in the design of high voltage equipment preferred including switchgear, transformers, power distribution, circuit breakers, protective relay schemes, overhead collection systems, overhead and underground transmission lines.
- Experience assisting with or the commissioning of high voltage substations and associated equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing calculations and analysis of power distribution systems preferred including voltage drop, load flow, and short circuit studies.
- Prior experience in developing and reviewing high voltage technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of local codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, NFPA, ANSI & IEEE
- BS Degree in Electrical preferred. High level technicians with 15+ experience will be considered.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- 10+ years experience in Transmission and Distribution engineering and analysis, with emphasis on substation design and high voltage equipment.
- Knowledge of SEL transmission relays and development of setting files.
- Knowledge of electrical testing.
- Strong communication skills and previous experience interfacing with internal and external clients.
- Experience managing outside engineering consultants.
