Description
Pipeline labourers assist skilled tradespersons and perform supportive labour activities on the construction site. Duties are assigned on the basis of project requirements, the skill levels of the labourer and the physical capabilities of labourer.
Must be Local to Edmonton. No Camp/LOA/Travel.
Responsibilities:
- placing pipe supports along the pipeline route prior to construction
- picking up pipe supports and any garbage along pipeline route once construction is finished
- removing and replacing obstacles such as fences and water lines
- using a chainsaw, axe, or other tools to remove trees and brush from the pipeline right-of-way
- using hand tools to dig drainage ditches as required
- helping to erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades
- loading, transporting and unloading material, parts and supplies to the job site from a storage site or supplier's facility
- assisting heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signaling operators to guide them in moving equipment and providing assistance in other activities if necessary
- fuelling equipment
- removing of rust and other undesirable substances from pipe ends using sand blasting equipment
- pouring or painting anti-corrosion material over un-coated pipe
- wrapping pipe with material designed to prevent corrosion and leakage
- positioning materials, pipes, fittings, and pumping equipment for mechanics, and welders.
- mixing, pour and spread materials such as concrete
- operating pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
- oiling and greasing equipment
- directing traffic on or near construction site
- cleaning trucks and equipment
- inspects tie downs and other retaining devices for wear and damage
- ensures loads are properly tied down before transport
- other duties as required
Requirements
Experience:
- 1-3 years' experience in years of field civil and mechanical experience in the pipeline construction industry.
- Experience on large industrial projects
- Experience on pipeline projects an asset
