Description
Tucson Electric Power, one of Arizona's leading utility companies, seeks an individual for the position of Student Intern in the Substation Engineering Department. We are looking for an energetic addition to our team to supplement the permanent staff and offer work experience to college students.
Position-Related Responsibilities
- Successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to assist the Substation Engineering staff with the design of additions to electric substations located in or near Tucson. Tasks may include preparing project cost estimates, equipment layouts, basic control wiring drawings from schematics and assembling complete packages of drawings for bidding or construction. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with other Engineering sections within the company while working on the substation projects.
- This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
(Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
- Must be a full-time college student, at least 12 credit hours, in an accredited University or community college and maintain a good academic standing
- Student must be pursuing a degree in an Engineering field with a graduation date no earlier than May 2019
- Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours; Up to 40 hours during the summer and school breaks
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to protect highly sensitive and confidential information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
