AltaGas - Estimator, Projects
The Estimator, Projects is responsible for the preparation, review and validation of AltaGas project cost estimates. The role requires a deep understanding of cost estimating within the oil and gas industry, AACE International best practices for estimating, benchmarking, key performance indicators as well as solid understanding of project management, risk management, and budget/cost control for capital projects.
You will:
- Prepare brownfield and greenfield cost estimates in accordance with approved procedures to cover the project phases from Project Identification to Closeout, and prepare Class V to I estimates as per AACEi best practices.
- Deliver Capital Cost Estimates and Basis, with focus on enhancing accuracy and execution to support the project delivery process.
- Understanding of construction techniques and execution models and technical documentation such as P&ID's to aid development of estimates.
- Develop, implement and maintain a database to track costs, cost estimates and industry data, to track, monitor and report on estimate performance versus actuals and industry.
- Developed database to be maintained to support go forward estimating efforts, development and support of in-house developed estimating tools, establishing benchmarks, developing, tracking and reporting on KPI's.
- Compare and analyze scope, quantities (material takeoffs), and cost data between projects. Compare and analyze with previous estimates, outcome costs and vendor prices, carry out benchmarking through high level norms and industry standards.
- Ensure quality of cost estimates adhering to industry best practices as related to project development phases.
- Establish review process to ensure quality of estimates generated meet industry best practices and required level of definition and accuracy.
- Participate in project assurance process and reviews for gate approvals. Prepare and present cost estimates to management as part of the project delivery process.
You have:
- Bachelor's Degree Relevant discipline or equivalent qualification/experience. Ideally in Engineering or Construction Management. required
- 10+ Years Oil and gas industry knowledge/experience preferred preferred
- Knowledge of industry best practices and international standards such as AACEi.
- Sound understanding of project controls principles for oil & gas industry projects.
- Ability to process large quantities of data, benchmark, analyze, track and report on performance for relevant estimating measures.
- Thorough technical and practical experience in the relevant discipline, including experience in project engineering and management with specialized estimating expertise.
