MISO OVERVIEW
MISO is an essential link in the safe, cost-effective delivery of electric power across all or parts of 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. As a Regional Transmission Organization, MISO assures consumers of unbiased regional grid management and open access to the transmission facilities under MISO's functional supervision.
We manage one of the world's largest energy markets, clearing billions in gross market charges annually. We use a five-minute commitment process that provides market liquidity and transparent pricing while also minimizing congestion and maximizing efficient energy transmission.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will serve as the financial subject matter expert for the Competitive Transmission Process. This position will perform transmission rate analysis, financial model development, and comparative analysis of proposals that seek to finance, construct, own and operate a high voltage transmission line(s) and/or substation(s) Responsibility also includes the review and monitoring of the transmission developer's transmission costs and rates to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and commercial commitments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the subject matter expert for complex transmission rate analysis and financial analysis for competitive transmission projects
- Develop and execute financial models for the purposes of comparative analysis in compliance with regulatory requirements, business practices, and internal guides
- Coordinate effort with external consultant to evaluate transmission project costs, estimated annual transmission review requirements, and sensitivities
- Able to articulate, synthesize, and communicate complex financial modeling and transmission rate analysis to all audiences in both oral and written format
- Monitor and analyze Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proceedings for transmission rate implications for the Competitive Transmission Process
