The Aviation Safety Officer position is a professional position requiring formal aviation training/education and FAA licensing. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing essential aviation related safety functions (internal and external) as part of the overall Aircraft Operations department.
  • Provide a continuity in the aviation operations, monitor safe operations, and promote aviation safety.
  • Lead all aviation safety incident reviews both internally and with external contractors.
  • Administer the department's SMS program and function as the Chairman of the Safety Committee.
  • Monitors safety issues, provides safety education, investigate incidents and accidents, act as an expert on aviation safety matters.
  • Makes recommendations to improve safety in the workplace, demonstrate in-depth knowledge and relevant safety practices in helicopter aviation management.

The essentials

  • Possess ten (10) or more years of experience in aviation or aerospace related industries.

  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's).

  • Commercial Rotorcraft Certificate.

The preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation, business, engineering or applicable business or technical field or an equivalent combination of military, education, skills, and experience.

  • Certificate in Aviation Safety from an accredited program.

  • Experience in FAR Part 133 Long-Line operations.
