Primary Purpose
The Senior Executive Compensation and Benefits Advisor administers executive compensation and benefits programs, including base salary, annual and long-term incentives and nonqualified benefit plans for Sempra and its operating units. Provides consulting to Business Units, Human Resources, and executives regarding executive compensation and benefit issues. May participate in broad-based compensation projects and initiatives. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executes the administration of executive compensation and benefits programs, including base pay adjustments, equity awards, annual executive incentive compensation plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, nonqualified pension plans, and other executive benefits.
  • Manages the compilation and preparation of executive compensation tables included in the Sempra proxy statement and other regulatory filings related to executive compensation and benefit matters.
  • Prepares communication materials and interfaces with executives, financial planners and HR partners to help ensure that participants understand the plans.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of executive compensation plans, programs and processes in support of corporate vision and strategy and assists with the preparation of materials for periodic meetings of the Compensation and Talent Development Committee of Sempra's Board of Directors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Note, this position is a limited-term employment contract up to a one-year period. 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, related field or equivalent training and/or experience is required.
  • Advanced degree and/or other professional certification, such as CECP, CCP, CEP or CEBS are preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of executive compensation, finance, legal or related experience is required.
  • Advanced experience in stock plan administration is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize multiple recurring and nonrecurring projects in a very fast-paced and dynamic business environment is required.
  • Strong analytical and computer/spreadsheet skills, preferably with a foundation in accounting and finance are required.
  • Advanced ability to communicate with all levels of management, including senior executives and board members, on subjects that can be complex and, at times, of significant personal importance is required.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment.  Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Equity Professional (CEP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) are preferred.
