JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Senior Staff Power Development Engineer (Generation and Emerging Technology): Entergy is looking for an experienced and innovative Engineer with power generation development and/or generation technology assessment background to be a part of the Power Development engineering team optimizing the reliability, affordability, and sustainability of new generation to meet the needs of our customer's. This role works with a team of engineers, analyst, and project managers to assess the performance attributes of utility scale power generation technologies, provide technical support to early-stage new generation project development, and progress the development of large-scale carbon capture solutions.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains technical performance screenings, assessments, and comparable perspective of utility scale power generation and related technologies (thermal, solar, wind, battery, carbon capture, etc)
- Develops technical performance perspectives for new and developing technologies for comparison and potential inclusion in the company's future generation portfolio
- Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to meet the organizations power generation technology assessment needs, including financial analyst to form techno-economic perspective of new generation opportunities
- Provides technical support to new generation and carbon capture project development including project proposals, obtainment of internal and external approvals, establishment and maintenance of engineering design standards, the resolution of technical queries (RFIs), and the development of project deliverables
- Supports/Leads cross-functional teams consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants during development of engineering contracts
- Ensures that engineering is complete, accurate and constructible, and that drawings and designs documents are organized and maintained in conjunction with Entergy's requirements
- Oversees contractor's engineering performance, coordinates contractor and owner's engineering interfaces, and ensures projects are completed according to project specifications, schedule, quality and performance requirements.
- Coordinates with the project execution engineers and team to support effective implementation of the engineering design standards as new generation project progress through the stage gate process to detailed design and construction
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position.
- Project Engineer, Sr Lead: 10+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience, preferably engineering design, construction or operation of power systems. (8 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Masters Degree)
- Project Engineer Sr Staff: 12+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience, preferably engineering design, construction or operation of power systems (10 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Masters Degree)
Minimum experience required of the position.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 360.
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to power generation this includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design of electrical power generating facilities.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of power generation and/or carbon capture facilities.
- Knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to the construction or repair of power generation and/or carbon capture facilities.
- Experience with reviewing, executing, and managing EPC contracts.
- Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Desired:
- Experience with generation technology assessments, Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine (CCCT) generation, and/or amine-based Carbon Capture systems.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position.
- Desired: Professional Engineer license and PMP certification.
